Position Overview:

The Claims Examiner is responsible for the prompt and efficient examination and settlement or declination of CGL & Property claims through thorough research and negotiation with insureds and claimants.

Role & Responsibilities:

Verify coverage, assess damages and establish reserves. Provide prompt file creation and maintain diary system. Settle claims directly with claimants or their representative within authority level. Approve claims payments/settlements within authority. Provide instruction and direction to external vendors i.e.: independent adjusters, legal counsel, engineers. Determine if subrogation exists and takes step necessary to initiate recovery efforts. Documents all correspondence, reports, discussions and decisions. Identify and report risk management issues. Seek assistance from In House Counsel as needed.
